DISCLAIMER: I am not a writer or critic, just an everyday mom who really loves baseball...especially when my kids are on the field!!!

My blog was created to track my children's special moments on the field and their experience(s) with their respective teams. It is written through a mother's eyes. The intent is solely for the purpose of reliving the game(s) during post season. From my experience, there will be some bad plays / unfortunate incidents, and these may be recorded in order to follow the game(s). There will also be times when I will have questions or doubts...but these are MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION(S).

I apologize in advance if I do, but I do not intend to criticize any player, or coach...I SIMPLY CALL IT AS I SEE IT!!!

Let's Get Those Engines Started...

Looking outside today it doesn't appear that Spring sports season is right around the corner, but it's already the end of January!  The team has been practicing three times a week since the start of the year, even though Aaron and a couple other boys have been in the gym since November...one of the disadvantages of being a pitcher.  He also had an assessment of his pitching technique by the Pitching Coach but as we already suspected, they cannot change anything other than his stance.  Once you pitch sidearm you will never be able to change, especially since he's been doing it for a few years now.

This is the first year I was finally able to relax at home while Andy did the chauffeuring to and from practice...and I am especially happy since it's a longer drive to Mississauga.

Time to shake off those cobwebs, get off the couch...and get those bats swinging!!!

Yep...that's exactly what we do!

Yeah, Spring is here!!!

Happy New Year, 2015...

Well I certainly hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  We made the most of the holidays by spending time with friends and family.  You can say we were making up for the lost holidays of 2013, when we had the ice storm and were without power for a few days.

From our Home to Yours...Happy Holidays.
I hope 2015 is another great year and I wish all of you good health, happiness and success.

The new year is off to a cold start here in Toronto but at least we know that baseball season will be here before we know it!

2015 Season...Training Begins!!!

Training wasn't supposed to start until January 2015, although I knew they were hoping to get Aaron and a couple of the other boys out on the field before the bad weather started.  Unfortunately that didn't work out as we went on vacation and some of the other boys were not available.  The coaches decided they wanted the catchers and infields to start in November but the very first practice had to be cancelled due to bad weather and a couple boys not being available.

Tonight they finally made it out to the gym...and guess who had to drive him to Mississauga!  So much for - 'don't worry, I am changing my shift and I will take him'!  I can't complain too much because Andy wasn't feeling well and they asked him to go in to work earlier.  The school where the practice was being held was just a block away from a mall, so I dropped him off and went there to kill some time.  However, the mall closed at 9:00 p.m. so I was forced to go back and watch the practice for half hour.

The weather tonight wasn't very bad...just a bit of blowing snow and the drive was no more that half hour, each way.

We'll see who ends up driving him next week!

Winter is here!!!

There were Christmas decorations in the stores even before Halloween so I knew the dreaded Season was on it's way...but today there's no doubt that Winter is here.  Not only is it COLD today, but the snow is falling too.  I haven't checked the weather report to see how much we are getting but it's only 3 degrees, so it shouldn't be too bad.  I finally caved and pulled out my winter coat last week although there were a couple bearable days in between.  Let's hope it's not another winter like the last one!

The Tigers are getting an early start with indoor practice set to begin next week!  A few of the boys, including Aaron, will be starting earlier than the rest.  I believe they said the catchers, pitchers and infields are the ones going out first.  I am just grateful that Andy has finally started working the day shift so he can have the pleasure of taking Aaron this season!  With Aaron joining the Tigers this year and being older, they will have to go all the way to Mississauga and later at nights.

At least there is something to get us through the winter...knowing that the next Season will be here soon!!!

World Series 2014...Yeah, 'my' Team Won!!!

Well, I said it at the start of the World Series but they didn't listen!  Both Aaron and Andy were rooting for the Royals to take the title but I had a feeling the Giants would be on top again this year.  I remember watching the Series back in 2012...and I was in awe when watching Lincecum pitch.  This year it was another great pitcher...Bumgarner.

All the games were really exciting to watch and even though the final game was a nail-biting one...especially in the last inning, I have to admit that my favourite was Game 5 when he pitched the entire game and no runs were scored!  Wow, 117 pitches in 9 full innings, and he's only 25 years old!

There's so much talk about him going down in history...pitching 21 total innings in the World Series and only letting in 1 run.  Reading all the remarks about how the other teams are scared of him takes me right back to Aaron's season with the Cardinals this year...and all the names he's earned from other teams and parents.  At one tryout, a few parents recognized him and told us that they didn't know his name so they called him the 'side-armer'.  One parent said her son hates batting, especially when Aaron is pitching.

Congratulations to the Giants on their win...and to the Royals for putting up a good fight.  It takes 2 amazing teams to make it this far.

Amazing!

Ok, my team won and Baseball Season is officially over for 2014...I can sleep now!

Baseball Season Over...Now What???

What a Season it has been in my house!

First Aaron's team won the TBA and now he secured a place on the MNBA Tigers AAA team.  Ariana's team came in first place and the Girls Softball Team won the championship.  Too bad the Blue Jays didn't do as well as my kids...but it was still a good Season.  We were able to catch 3 games this Season, including the final game on Sunday, September 28, 2014 as they took on Baltimore Orioles.

I think the Orioles cheated...since they had 2 extra players on the field!
I think the evidence speaks for itself!
Looking forward to the 2015 Season, Blue Jays.

Hats off to the great Derek Jeter...who I must add, shares a birthday with another one of the greatest baseball players I know...as he retires from the New York Yankees at the end of the season...

Well the only thing left now is the World Series.  I have to admit...I haven't been following the progress of all the teams so it will be interesting to see who will make it to the finals.

The weather is getting cold and Aaron doesn't start Winter training until December / January, so I have to find something else to keep me occupied!  I guess it will have to be the next thing I like doing...Baking!
